reed seifer's wish piece

Monday, June 23rd, 2008

Supermarket HQ (similar to Etsy), is a site that says, "Hi, we’re Supermarket.
We're here to connect you directly with designers and the great things they make." And they do.

Reed Seifer's Wish Piece was the first thing I bookmarked. Six matches, three each marked selfish and unselfish, meant for striking to grant wishes. I can't think of a person I wouldn't give these too as a gift.

housefish's suspended bed

Tuesday, June 17th, 2008

Housefish (a furniture designer) has an incredibly cool suspended bed for sale on their site. It's a little out of my price range at the moment ($3000), but it's definitely something I'd love to own in the future. Unfortunately it's a limited edition (only to 5!), so I doubt I'll ever have one. But hey, it's still up there and I've had this bookmarked for several months, so you never know!

perpetual kid online store

Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

Perpetual Kid is one of the greatest online gift sites I've ever found. I've bought gifts for my sister, my dad, my cousins, my coworkers and my boyfriend from this site for several years, and their product selection has only gotten better every year.

Sticky Set: Psycho? Perfect for my favorite coworker. To-do Tattoo? My boyfriend needs this product. Cool Shooters Ice Cube Shot Glasses… I bought this for my sister last year and she loves it. Perpetual Kid has something for everyone.

magpie jewelry by megan greene

Tuesday, May 13th, 2008

In 2005 a Daily Candy email came through about Magpie Rings, and I absolutely fell in love. The rings are gorgeous, made of fine wire, gemstones, glass and beads, and intricately detailed.

I've already purchased two, and I'm planning to get one for my sister at Christmas.

words for your walls

Tuesday, May 6th, 2008

When I first stumbled upon this website, I thought, "cool, what an awesome idea.. not only can I put this on my wall, I can give it as a gift!"

And then I couldn't figure out what words I wanted to put on my walls and realized if I couldn't figure it out for myself, how on Earth could I figure it out for someone else. Sad, I know. But I saved the URL because I know one day I'll think of something.

The art is "digitally cut, pre-spaced lettering that looks professionally hand-painted"—perfect for a stylish friend who has a favorite quote, saying or word.

helpineedhelp.com

This site made my list for two reasons: the design is cool and the product is unique.

The site is very clean, attractive and perfect for the product… small amounts of pain medication and bandages in cute, 100% recycled packages.

I would suggest they look at optimizing their code… all the images are called via CSS and while the load time isn't terrible, it should be fantastic for such a minimalist site.

paul pape designs

Monday, April 28th, 2008

Edible geekery… what a perfect slogan. Paul Pape Designs creates chocolate Wii avatars in a console-shaped box, in addition to customized Wii figurines (and cake toppers!).

At Christmas, my boyfriend and I got a Wii, so for Valentine's Day, I got the chocolate box of two for him. Although some people noted problems during shipping, ours arrived completely intact and were a huge hit (the chocolate was really good, too).

I think I found this link via another blog, but unfortunately I'm not sure which one.
