fleming's steakhouse mac and cheese

Monday, June 30th, 2008

A few months ago my boyfriend and I went to Fleming's Steakhouse for dinner. One of the sides we ordered was their famous Chipotle Cheddar Macaroni and Cheese, which we have decided might be one of the seven wonders of the culinary world. You must go there and try it, it will amaze your mouth (no, seriously, it's like a food orgasm).

I finally broke down and decided to search for the recipe, which I did find, but considering one serving has enough fat and calories to kill you, I haven't made it quite yet. But it's bookmarked, because one day we won't be able to resist!

jack: an occasional restaurant

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

I love Habeas Brulee—it's one of the best foodie blogs out there—so the fact that they have an "occasional restaurant" instantly intrigued me. It's called Jack, and they're open for one seating on Saturday nights (7PM to 10PM) "once a month or so," with a multi-course tasting menu.

Next time I'm in NYC, I'm making a reservation, because their menus look amazing.

delessio market and bakery

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

The next time I head to San Francisco, I plan to make a stop at DeLessio's Market for the chocolate bubble wrap. Felchlin Felcor chocolate mixed with everything from cocoa nibs to peanut butter, then poured over bubble wrap (or so I hear, it's probably a mold). They have hundreds of reviews on Yelp, so that's probably where I heard about it.

I love chocolate, so anything new also catches my eye.

go go curry usa

Monday, June 2nd, 2008

An article on Wired led me to the website for Go Go Curry USA. Apparently Japanese curry is a killer dish (definitely one I've never heard of) and it was this paragraph that sold me…

I love Japan's curry in the same way that a heroin addict loves shooting up. The only significant difference between the two is that eventually, if you stop doing heroin long enough, you are no longer addicted to it. Japanese curry addiction does not leave you even when you move back home. You just spend your days wishing you could eat it again, saving your money so you can fly back to Tokyo and eat more.

So I bookmarked Go Go Curry, and it's in my food travel folder, so I know when I'm looking to head to NYC, it's a place I need to visit.

grezzo restaurant in boston

Monday, May 19th, 2008

I desperately want to go to this restaurant in Boston, but my boyfriend is less than enthused. Grezzo is a vegan, raw food restaurant in Boston, specializing in live food that is 100% organic and kept below 112 degrees.

Now I'm not looking to become a straight-up vegan (I'm pescetarian), but there's something quite fascinating about a restaurant (and a lifestyle) that is so strict, and yet so good. The day I can convince someone to come with me, I'll be eating at Grezzo.
